Hiren Desai (’91) – 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award

The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga has awarded its highest alumni honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award, to Hiren Desai (’91), recognizing his entrepreneurial achievements and philanthropic impact.

Desai is founder and CEO of Chattanooga-based 3H Group Inc., a hospitality and real estate company he launched in 2000. Under his leadership, 3H Group has grown to national prominence, earning awards from Marriott, Hilton and Hyatt. Recently, Desai expanded his business interests into manufacturing, acquiring a cabinetry firm and developing a line of paper products.

Born in England, Desai arrived in Chattanooga in 1987 and enrolled at UTC, graduating in 1991. As a student, he co-founded the Indo Cultural Exchange and introduced peers to rugby and cricket.

“Never forget where you came from,” Desai said. “Give back to what helped you get where you are.”

Together with his wife, also a UTC alum, Desai actively supports causes such as UTC scholarships and Children’s Hospital.
