Since graduating from UTC in 2025, Garrett Engle has continued chasing the goal that brought him to the course in the first place: playing golf professionally.
The Political Science & Public Service graduate is now competing professionally, continuing to pursue the sport he loves while building on relationships and experiences that began during his time as a Moc.
“It’s been a great experience post-college,” Engle said. “I’ve been fortunate enough to continue playing golf at a professional level, and I’ve really enjoyed the past year and a half competing professionally.”
While student-athlete compensation conversations often focus on high-profile sports, Engle says student-athletes in golf can also find meaningful opportunities like he did while at UTC.
“I personally think there are a lot more opportunities for golfers across the overall landscape than people may realize,” he said. “I think a lot of it comes down to finding the right fit for yourself and building connections with people from all over. It’s valuable not only from a networking standpoint, but also because you learn how to communicate and build relationships with successful business professionals”
His experience in building his personal brand while at UTC helped him develop professional relationships and communication skills that continue to benefit him today. Whether pursuing professional golf or another career path, Engle believes his time as a student-athlete has had a lasting impact.
“Even if you decide that professional sports isn’t the avenue you want to pursue for your career, those skills and connections built from working with others can be incredibly beneficial moving forward,” he said.
As he continues competing professionally, Engle remains focused on improving his game and advancing to the next level.
“It’s been a lot of fun, and I’m excited to continue improving, move up the ranks and hopefully accomplish some great things along the way.”
